Fun Stuff: Wear a sweater in honor of Mister Rogers
March 10, 2008 by libertyisforme
In honor of what would have been Mister Rogers’ 80th birthday on March 20, his foundation is asking everyone to wear a sweater on that day - any sweater - it doesn’t have to be like the one he wore on the show.

In 1969, Congress was going to drastically cut funding for public television so it could send more money to the war in Vietnam. Mr. Rogers tv show likely would have been cancelled.
In what has become one of the most famous testimonies in the history of Congress, Mr. Rogers transformed the hawkish chairman in charge of the money allocation, thus saving public television. And he did it in just a few minutes.
The testimony really is remarkable. The chairman goes from tough and a bit rude to almost tearful right before your eyes. Regardless of your take on public television, Mr. Rogers testimony is well worth watching, especially if you have a job in a field that requires you to persuade or influence people.
