MD: Teachers union wants slot machines and more money
March 17, 2008 by libertyisforme
MD teachers union is pushing a referendum that legalizes slot machines and gives half the proceeds to public schools. Same thing as NV.
According to them:
“Because of our state’s precarious fiscal outlook, if this referendum fails, students, teachers and support staff will be left with outdated facilities, larger classes, outdated textbooks and shortages of materials. School systems will be left with fewer resources to recruit and retain the best teachers and support staff,” Miss Floyd said.
This is the way they justify more money.
Show me figures? Show me dilapidated schools? Show me outdated textbook?
I refuse to believe that with their $9 billion budget they can’t accommodate for children’s educational needs.
